We’re Building a New Sports Complex in Opava
We are continuing construction of a modern outdoor sports facility at the Secondary Technical School in Opava, known locally as Kolofík. Our construction team is building an athletics track, a small-sided football pitch, a multi-purpose sports court and an outdoor workout area for the Moravian-Silesian Region. The new sports complex, with a total investment of CZK 21.4 million, will serve both students and the general public.
Modern Facilities for Several Sports
The new sports complex is being built on the site of the original outdoor facility, which no longer met current standards. The goal of the project is to create high-quality conditions for physical education classes and recreational sports activities.
The main feature of the complex will be an athletic track, inside which a 54 × 30-meter mini-soccer field will be built. Additional sports opportunities will be provided by a multipurpose court designed for ball sports and a separate workout zone for outdoor exercise.
The construction also includes central facilities with restrooms and lockers for visitors. The complex will thus offer not only new sports areas but also the necessary equipment for their daily use.
We will complete construction by the end of the year
The project’s investor is the Moravian-Silesian Region, which is investing a total of 21.4 million crowns in the new sports facility. Of this amount, 18.8 million crowns will be covered by a European grant from the Integrated Regional Operational Program (IROP), while the region will cover the remaining costs from its own budget.
Construction is scheduled to be completed in December 2026. Students should therefore be able to start using the new sports complex as early as next spring. However, the complex will not be used exclusively by the school. There are also plans to open it to the public in the afternoons so that it can serve the sports needs of Opava’s residents.
